Brighton’s summer 2026 calendar just got a major shot of adrenaline. Nutty Boys legends Madness are returning to our shores for Madrophenia, a massive TWO-day celebration on Brighton Beach. Originally only set for Friday, July 24th, and extra date of Thursday 23rd has been announced due to the speed with which the Friday sold out.
While the headline set from Suggs and company is guaranteed to be a hit-filled party, there is extra buzz in town because Kid Kapichi have been officially added to the bill for the 24th. Still on a meteoric trajectory that has seen them become one of the most vital voices in UK indie-punk, the Hastings-born, Brighton-associated outfit are bringing their gritty riffs and sharp social commentary back to the South Coast for what is sure to be the rowdiest set of the day.

The Legacy of Brighton on the Beach
The “On the Beach” concert series has become a cornerstone of Brighton’s cultural identity. It famously traces its roots back to the legendary “Big Beach Boutique” events hosted by Fatboy Slim in the early 2000s, which saw hundreds of thousands of people descend on the coast.
In recent years, the series has evolved into a structured multi-day festival format, transforming the area near Madeira Drive into a world-class outdoor arena. The series is known for its eclectic programming, having previously hosted everything from the heavy beats of Chase & Status to the indie anthems of The Kooks and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. By bringing Madness and Kid Kapichi together for Madrophenia, the organizers are continuing the tradition of pairing British music royalty with the hottest local talent against the most iconic backdrop in the country.
